Culminating Event

Culminating Activity:
Healthy Living Fair

The What is Healthy? Unit will culminate with a Healthy Living Fair which will showcase the student work and understandings of healthy lifestyle choices. Students will display a variety of booths they create as well as community resources they have recruited to inform the community about the necessity of a healthy lifestyle and how to achieve it. The fair will run on the last Friday of the unit, and correspond with Global Youth Service Day. There will be one fair during the day for the other students at the school to attend, and one in the evening for parents and community members to attend. After school there will be a two mile Commitment to Health Race in which every student and teacher (as well as any parent, sibling or community member ) will participate. Participants are able to run, walk, or bike ride and everyone will finish to celebrate their commitment to physical activity.

Throughout the unit, students will be working in their content area classes as well as the unified arts to create works to display at the fair.
